Lubrication and filtration firm Operational Marketing (Pty) Ltd of Randburg has been awarded a supply contract for a complete lubrication system for two gearless mills in Zambia. The contract is valued at approximately R4,5 million.

In what Operational Marketing (Pty) Ltd believe is a coup for the company, in as much as it is a 'first' in Southern Africa, Operational Marketing (Pty) Ltd is to supply lubrication systems for a gearless SAG mill and a gearless ball mill for Equinox's Lumwana copper project near Solwezi. The contract also includes systems for a gyratory crusher and a regrind ball mill.

These are highly advanced systems being installed in equally high-tech mills and the need for reliability is essential in order to keep stopages costs to a minimum. Individual components are imported but the system design and manufacture is done at Operational Marketing's offices in Fontainebleau, Johannesburg.
